Orders an immediate dive followed by a 90 degree turn to port. Can allow any nearby astute enemy sonar-man to locate you.Anything more than 1000 feet is just reported as 1000 feet. Orders the sonar-man to send a single ping and to report back on the depth of the water immediately under your keel. This order can be given via the button or via the "p" key.For that reason more prudent captains will often issue a command to dive to a greater depth (100feet?) instead of just issuing the Periscope Depth command. While this IS generally sufficient to avoid damage from most planes, there is still a possibility that you will be spotted and other aircraft advised of your location, bearing and speed. Take the boat to the standard 60 foot periscope depth. Replenishing compressed air is generally not an issue unless your on-board compressor has been damaged. The more leisurely Surface command, the "S" key, will bring you to the surface more gradually but will not expend as much compressed air.
